What are pressure compensating drippers?
Pressure Compensating drippers are used in landscapes and container planters and will maintain a constant flow rate even on hillsides or long circuits. Why are Raindrip drippers made in different colours?
Drippers are colour coded to differentiate the different flow rate outputs. Can I combine both drippers and sprinklers on the same line?
You should never mix drippers with sprinklers, because of their varying flow rates. The flow rate of a sprinkler may vary from 0 to 75 LPH litres per hour). Pressure Compensating Drippers have a flow rate of 1.8 LPH, 3.7 LPH, 7.5 LPH and 15.1 LPH.How can I help protect drippers and/or sprinkler heads being damaged by small animals?

What will cause my connections to leak?
Mismatching threads or cross-threaded connections are the main cause of leaks. Raindrip makes both pipe & hose thread parts, so to prevent a leaky connection, it is important to match hose thread to hose thread and pipe thread to pipe thread.Do I need a pre-set Pressure Regulator with my Raindrip system?
Yes, a pre-set Pressure Regulator is necessary when installing a drip system. A drip system is designed to work with a pressure of 172 to 241kPa. Any pressure over 241kPa will damage the system over time
How do I put batteries into the timer?
Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer. Pull up on the battery tray tabs. After placing (2) AA batteries in the battery tray, slide the tray into the timer. The tray will only fit into the timer one way. Firmly push down on the battery tray to ensure it is fully inserted into the timer. What type of batteries can be used?
It is recommended that (2) new alkaline or lithium ion AA batteries (1.5 volt rating) be used at the beginning of each season. Do not use rechargeable batteries because they do not meet the voltage requirements. How long will batteries last?
Lab testing of the timer showed that the batteries in the timer lasted in excess of 30,000 on/off cycles. However, we recommend that new batteries be installed at the beginning of each watering season. How do I program the timer?
The day and time are not set on this timer. The timer must be set at the time of day that the watering is to begin. If you want the watering to begin at 7:00 am, then the timer must be programmed at 7:00 am. Before you begin programming, set all dials to either the RESET or OFF position. To set the start time, turn the FREQUENCY dial to the desired setting at the time of day watering is to begin. The frequency is how often you want the water to come on. Setting the dial to “1” means that the water will come on every hour (24 starts per day). Setting the dial to “48” means that the water will come on every 48 hours (every other day). After setting the FREQUENCY dial, turn the RUN TIME dial to the desired setting. Run time is how long the water will run for, in minutes. Note: The Frequency must be a longer duration than the run time. When will the water turn on and start watering?
See the table below to see how many starts per day and when the watering will start:
Frequency# of starts per dayWatering will start2 Hours122 hours later6 hours46 hours later12 Hours212 hours laterWeek1 watering cycle per week1 week laterHow do I change the frequency or run time?
The frequency or run time can be changed at any time by simply rotating the dial to the new position.Does changing the frequency or run time change the start time?
No. Changes made to the frequency or run time will not change the start time. The dials can pass over the off and reset without affecting the start time. Changes are not made to the programming until AFTER the confirmation flash by the LED lights on the timer (about 2 seconds after stopping on the desired setting). How do I change the start time?
Set the FREQUENCY dial to the RESET position. The LED light will blink confirming the change. Follow the steps in question 4 to set the timer at the new desired start time. How does the Manual Watering cycle work?
The manual watering cycle is used to water your plants between automatic watering cycles. Before running a manual water cycle, the top dial must be set to the RESET position. After the confirmation flash of the light, the dial can be set to the desired run length. If the dial is already on RESET, rotate the dial to the desired run length. The manual watering durations range from 3 to 90 minutes. After the manual watering cycle completes the timer will return to automatic mode. You do not need to return the dial to the RESET position. How does the Rain Delay work?
This timer has the ability to delay the start of the next watering cycle for 24, 48, or 72 hours. Before running a rain delay cycle, the top dial must be set to the RESET position. After the confirmation flash of the light, the dial can be set to the desired delay length. Rotate the top dial to the desired length to delay the start of the automatic watering cycle. If the dial is already on RESET, rotate the dial to the desired delay length. After the rain delay cycle completes the timer will return to automatic mode. You do not need to return the dial to the RESET position.Does the timer have hose or pipe threads?
The timer has hose thread on both the inlet and outlet connections. Can the timer be installed flat on the ground?
Yes. However it is recommended that the time be installed above ground and directly to the hose bib. What are the minimum and maximum water pressures that can be used?
The timer requires a minimum of 103 kPa water pressure to operate. The timer should not be used in locations with water pressure greater than 620 kPa.How do I winterise the timer?
The timer should be removed from the hose bib at the end of each watering season. After removing the timer, remove the batteries and shake the remaining water out of the timer. The timer should be stored indoor until the next season. Will the timer turn off when the batteries are low?
Yes. The battery indicator light will show the power level of the batteries. Once the battery level gets low, the timer will shut the valve off and will not turn on until the batteries are replaced. My timer did not water. Why not?
Before contacting Raindrip Technical Services, please check the following:
- Make sure the water is turned on at the hose bib.
- Check the power level on the batteries. After the batteries are initially installed the timer checks the power level of the batteries. If the total voltage is less than 2.6 volts, the indicator light will blink repeatedly signalling a problem. After the initial battery level check, then timer will check the battery level to be sure that there is enough power to shut the valve off.
- Check that the batteries are correctly installed in the battery tray.
- The FREQUENCY dial must be set to a duration longer than the RUN TIME. The indicator light will blink until the frequency is increased or the run time is decreased.
How do I know if my battery power level is low?
Battery Power Level Indicator Light Action Good 1 blink every 4 seconds Low – After 20,000 cycles 2 quick blinks every 4 seconds Very Low – After an additional
10,000 cycles3 quick blinks every 4 seconds
No water flow is coming out of sprinkler head
Make sure that the water supply and the adjustable valve on the sprinkler are both on.Inaccurate spray pattern
This is typically caused by a blockage due to sand, dirt or calcium build up. To remove blockage, remove the spray head from the 4 mm tubing and flush with fresh water. If fresh water does not work, soak the sprayer in vinegar. Sometimes the blockage could be removed by readjusting the valve on the sprinkler head.Leaking around the stem
This is usually caused by the sprayer not being fully screwed on to the tubing. To fix, screw the sprayer on tighter. If this does not work then remove and reconnect the sprinkler head to fix the problem.Sprinkler head blows off 4 mm tubing
This could be caused by the sprayer not being fully screwed on to the tubing or excessive pressure. Remove and reconnect sprinkler head and check pressure. The Raindrip system should not have an operating pressure of more than 241 kPa.Too much water flow
This is usually caused by excessive pressure. Check pressure, all Raindrip systems should not have an operating pressure of more than 241 kPa.You will need to replace the sprinkler head if:
- Sprinkler has a crack or split due to UV rays damage. Sprinklers with UV ray damage will have a faded color and will appear brittle.
- Sprinkler has been damaged by a rodent.
- Sprinkler has missing components.
To replace a sprinkler head you will need to unscrew the sprinkler head from the riser.

Anatomy of a Drip System
While they may appear complex at first glance, drip systems can be broken down into easy-to-understand components. Every drip watering system is structured around three major aspects:
The Water Source
Often called the point-of-connection.
The Mainline
The main feeder artery that distributes water from the source to the planted area.
Emitter Devices
These apply water at each plant location, including devices like individual emitters, bubblers, micro sprayers and drip line.
